Hi! It’s been awhile!! After I decided to take a break from social media, my brain just wasn’t in “content creation” mode. Plus— May was BUSY! I only have one school aged child and it felt like a lot, I can only imagine what it will be like in a few years. I hope you survived “Maycember” and are easing into & enjoying the beginning of summer. Here’s a little bit of what I’ve been living and learning lately:
Summer goals
There’s something about the start of a new season, I can’t help but get into goal setting mode. I am who I am 😂 I’m doing a spin off of my “75 sustainable” challenge that I attempted last spring (which is a spin off of the 75 Hard challenge). But this time around, I was REALLY intentional with my goals and what I want to accomplish this summer, versus what I feel like I should accomplish. I thought about how I want to show up* in each area of my life this summer (*my phrase for 2024!) and am committing to meeting each category as specified for most of the summer.
*You absolutely don’t need to set goals and can just relax and enjoy your summer- but if you’re also feeling the itch to refresh some habits this summer and would like this newer tracker, just let me know in the comments or reply to this email & I’ll get it up to share! 😊
A favorite grocery store treat
I’m a big fan of adding a little treat for myself to our grocery orders- these tiny Tony’s chocolates have been my go to lately. I love the variety, the quality of the chocolate, and it just so works out that there is enough to have two everyday of the week 😉 I also keep a few on hand because they make a cute little “thinking of you” or thank you gift!
Our Little Free Library!
A highlight of the last few months has been installing our very own Little Free Library in our front yard! I’ve loved being able to share books with our neighbors and it’s just brought so much joy. It’s something that I’ve wanted to do for years and I’m so glad we finally did!
Summer reading stack
There are so many fun summer reading lists out there, but the last several years I’ve really found joy in creating my own summer TBR pile. I went through my bookshelf and pulled out any books that were either: 1. Summer themed(ish) or 2. I’ve just really been wanting to read and put them in a separate stack on my shelf. Just an easy way to make reading feel more exciting and also helps limit the overwhelm that I feel sometimes when deciding what to read next!! In the past I have done this solely through placing holds at the library, but this year I’m excited to actually read the books I already own and then pass them on in our little library.
Sundaes on Sunday
Last summer we started the tradition of MYO ice cream sundaes every Sunday and it was the best! We naturally stopped as the weather grew colder, but we brought it back this Memorial Day Weekend and our kids were so excited! I keep this container stocked with sundae toppings and we just let the kids go to town each Sunday after dinner. It’s simple but I hope it will become a fun childhood memory 😊
As always, thank you so much for being here! See you next time! 💜
Obsessed with your LFL and how perfectly it matches your home! 😍
Love the Sundae tradition idea - I will do that when my son is older and I am cool with giving him sugar 😂 also I am so happy to hear from you again Shelly! I missed you on IG and I am really excited for your Substack journey - who knows perhaps I will create and write alongside you soon!
