Minimize the Mess update:
I didn’t get as far as I’d hoped with this challenge- life was full this month and I just didn’t have (ahem-I didn’t want to make) the time.
I did really like the structure of it and plan on continuing this challenge by combining it with my Clean 15 routine. Each day I’ll spend 15 minutes cleaning, tidying OR working on a House to Haven project (hmm maybe I should call this “Home 15” instead?!) I’ll use my master list and choose a few each week to add to my weekly list on my white board.
I many not want to, but I definitely CAN find 15 extra minutes a day to care for my home…especially if I’m not on my phone for four hours a day, which leads me to my next topic 👇🏻
It’s time for a social media break:
If you’re here reading this you probably saw that I’m taking a real social media break (ie a break from posting and having the apps on my phone at all). I’m really excited to spend time offline and not feel like I should always be sharing, creating or consuming content. I’m ready to live life without constant influence from other people for a little bit. I will be writing here and on my blog a few times a month as a creative outlet but these spaces feel much—calmer? less noisy? Speaking of goals, I spent time this week outlining my…
Quarter 2 goals:
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again- this free printable has been SO helpful for me in breaking down my big yearly goals into smaller manageable ones. I’m proud to say (that maybe for the first time ever at this point in the year) I’ve made progress towards almost all of them and I truly credit this printable. I just wanted to reshare it as we begin a new quarter- it would be a good time to start using it if you haven’t already!
100 Day Project update:
I’m so proud to say that I have stuck with this project! Every page isn’t colored to completion, but I’ve at least written words and sketched out a doodle every day for the last 40+ (!!!) days. My favorite takeaway so far is that I find myself actively seeking out something fun/unique/beautiful/etc everyday to document. It’s helped me notice and appreciate the magic in the mundane.
I’ve shared this book before, but this journaling practice was heavily inspired by this book—I highly recommend it!
A very uneventful spring break:
Our spring break wrapped up last week and I found myself feeling some guilt- we didn’t do anything out of the ordinary. We went to a few playgrounds, the library and the zoo- but that’s stuff we do regularly. No trips or fun staycations or even visiting anywhere new!
But I quickly realized I was comparing our spring break to ones I saw on social media (reason 19382092 I’m ready for a break!!) and that the uneventful spring breaks that were happening in homes across the country likely weren’t the ones being highlighted online 😉 SO just in case you need to hear it too- you’re not alone if you hung out in your home or neighborhood during spring break!! I’m sure there are more of us out there than not ❤️
In my reading era:
I started spending a lot more time off social media last month, in anticipation for my break, and I read nine books! The most I’ve ever read in a month for sure— I’m curious to see what happens with NO social media at all!! Out of those, six were a 4 or 5 star read!! And of those, “Other Birds” is the one I can’t stop thinking about. If you love a feel good, found family story, with well developed characters and a little magical realism, then I think you’ll love it too (thank you for the rec Mandi!!)
You can read more about what I read last month, as well as a new way I’m reading free books on this blog post.
That’s all I have for you today— thank you so much for subscribing and being here for my first newsletter! I truly appreciate your support as I constantly am re-evaluating, shifting and (hopefully) evolving! ❤️
Loved this! I’ve been in the biggest reading slump so BRB off to place a hold on Other Birds!
Loving that you are on Substack! The goals printable is so great—thank you for sharing that.
